Our mission

Our mission is to offer premium mountain bike infrastructure in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. The Sentiers du Portage provide local mountain bike clubs with a first-class training site, supporting sport development.

As a non-profit organization, we aim to be a hub for volunteers and mountain bike enthusiasts. Our activities generate a positive economic impact for local businesses, supporting the local economy. Our infrastructure also serves as an active mobility option, helping residents of Notre-Dame-du-Portage get around more easily.

Questions

Where are the Sentiers du Portage?

The trails are in Notre-Dame-du-Portage, 15 minutes west of Rivière-du-Loup. They are accessible through highway 20 (exit 496). They are developed in the forested hillside, between highway 20 and road 132.

When are the Sentiers du Portage open?

The season usually runs from May to October, depending on weather conditions. Keep an eye on our website, as this is where we announce our opening and closing dates.

What kind of trails are available at the Sentiers du Portage?

The site offers trails for all rider levels, from easy and intermediate to technical trails designed for intermediate and advanced riders.

We offer a Bike Park-style area for adrenaline seekers, a skills park focused on learning various techniques, and Enduro-style trails.

Are the trails designed for all rider levels?

Yes. We are committed to providing riders with a diverse range of trails designed for all skill levels, offering a safe and well-designed progression.

Are there hiking trails or activities other than mountain biking?

A few hiking trails are available, reserved for hikers and marked on the site map.

Is there a bike rental service available on site?

As of now, there is no bike rental service available.

Where can we park?

The main parking is at the top of the trail network, in the Véloparc Desjardins area. You can also park at the municipal office, located at the bottom of the Prelco area. You can consult the site map for more details.

How is the Sentiers du Portage funded?

The project is funded by partnerships with local businesses, the municipality of Notre-Dame-du-Portage and both provincial and federal governments. All revenues are reinvested in the trail network.

How can I volunteer or take part in this project?

Information on volunteering and involvement opportunities will be shared on the website and social media of the Sentiers du Portage.

Is my daily ticket refundable?

No. It is valid only for the date selected at purchase.

Are electric bikes authorized?

Class 1 e-bikes with mid-drive motors are permitted. Class 1 bikes have electric assistance that cuts off at 32 km/h. Class 2 e-bikes, which use a throttle and do not require pedaling, are not allowed on the trails.

Is a bike helmet mandatory?

Yes. Bike helmets must be worn properly at all times on the trail network.

Are dogs allowed on the site?

Dogs are not allowed on the bike trails. They are allowed on the hiking trails and public areas if kept on leash.

Can I buy my ticket on site?

Daily tickets and season passes can only be bought online on our website. A free Wi-Fi network is available at the Chalet des sports and at the municipal office to complete your purchase.
